Cracking Down on the “Wild West” of Property Management

The Housing Minister has called time on the “wild west” of property management, and we couldn’t agree more.

For years, we’ve seen leaseholders suffer from hidden charges, unqualified managing agents, and rogue companies who withhold funds and records during RTM handovers.

We’ve dealt with takeovers where it’s taken months to recover service charge money that should have been in residents’ accounts from day one.

The government proposes:

  1. Mandatory qualifications for managing agents
  2. Full transparency on service charges and major works
  3. Ending unfair legal cost recovery from leaseholders
  4. Fairer, clearer handovers when management changes

These are exactly the changes the industry needs. We already work to these standards, and we welcome a level playing field where professionalism and openness are the norm.
